What do ATAR and QCE mean?
The Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) is Queensland’s senior school qualification, awarded to eligible students at the end of Year 12.
The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a ranking used for entry into Australian universities and is also recognised by universities in many other countries.

What sort of food do Australians typically eat?
Australian families enjoy food from many different cultures.
Breakfast might include cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt or eggs. Lunch is often lighter and could include sandwiches, wraps, sushi, salads or similar foods. Dinner varies widely and might include a barbecue, pasta, Asian dishes, Mexican food, meat and vegetables or many other cuisines.
Students living in Homestay are provided with three meals and snacks each day.
What does a typical school day look like?
School begins at approximately 8.25am and finishes at 3.05pm.
Students attend lessons throughout the day with breaks for meals and recreation. After school, students may choose to participate in co-curricular activities such as sport, music or College clubs.
For students living with a host family, evenings generally provide time for dinner with the family, study and relaxation.
What might I do with my host family on weekends?
Every host family is different, which is part of the experience of living with an Australian family.
Activities might include visiting the beach, exploring a national park, going shopping or to the cinema, visiting local attractions, attending markets or enjoying a meal together.
Spending time with your host family is a great opportunity to experience everyday Australian life, practise your English and explore the Sunshine Coast.
