Nambour Christian College’s Study Abroad Program gives international students the opportunity to experience Australian school life while improving their English, making new friends and discovering a different culture.
Students join NCC classes and become part of the College community, combining everyday learning with the opportunity to experience life on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
With placements available from four weeks, Study Abroad is ideal for students looking for a shorter educational and cultural experience in Australia without committing to long-term international enrolment.
Become part of NCC
Study Abroad students don’t simply visit NCC. They become part of everyday College life for the duration of their stay.
Students can:
- Study alongside Australian students in mainstream classes
- Experience learning in an English-speaking environment
- Practise their English through everyday school and family life
- Make new friends and experience Australian culture
- Participate in aspects of College life and lunchtime activities
- Develop confidence, independence and cross-cultural understanding
It’s an opportunity to experience a different education system, explore new interests and discover what life at an Australian school is really like.
Who is Study Abroad for?
Study Abroad is designed for individual international students wanting to join NCC for a short period of study.
- Programs are available for a minimum of four weeks.
- It is for Years 3-12.
- Students must be at least eight years old.
- No minimum English language level is required. Each student’s English ability, school reports and suitability for their proposed placement are considered as part of the application process.

English language support
Students don’t need to speak perfect English before joining Study Abroad.
Junior School Study Abroad students receive English as a Second Language (ESL) lessons to support their learning at NCC. For older students, English language needs are considered as part of the interview and placement process.
The Study Abroad experience itself also gives students many opportunities to develop their English by learning alongside Australian students, participating in College life and communicating with their host family.
Accommodation & Homestay
Eligible Study Abroad students can experience everyday Australian family life by staying with an approved NCC host family.
Students under 12 years of age cannot be placed in Homestay and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of their stay.

Study Abroad Fees
Study Abroad fees vary according to the length of the program and requirements such as Homestay, English language support and airport transfers.

How to apply
We recommend applying 6–12 weeks before your preferred arrival date to allow time for assessment, interviews and arrangements.
1. Submit your application
Complete the online application and provide the required documents, including a passport copy, recent school reports and student photograph. You can also provide English language results, if available.
2. NCC reviews your application
Our international team considers your school reports, English language ability, proposed year-level placement and program availability.
3. Meet our International team
The student and their parent or guardian take part in an online interview. This is an opportunity for us to get to know the student, discuss their placement and answer any questions the family may have. This will be conducted by the Director of International Education.
4. Receive and accept your offer
Eligible students receive a letter of offer and enrolment contract outlining their proposed study dates, fees and program arrangements.
Once you accept and pay the required fees, NCC can begin finalising your program.
5. Prepare for Australia
Where required, NCC assists with homestay placement, airport transfers and pre-arrival information.
Before arrival, we’ll also provide information about onboarding and getting ready for your first day at NCC.
6. Welcome to NCC
On arrival, students attend onboarding, meet key staff and receive the information and resources they need to begin their Study Abroad experience.
