Entry Requirements – English

Nambour Christian College welcomes international students who enrol either directly with the College or through one of our approved education agents.

As students are enrolled in mainstream classes, applicants must demonstrate an appropriate level of English proficiency to ensure they can successfully engage with the curriculum and school community.

International applicants for whom English is a second language are required to provide evidence of their English language ability through one of the following recognised assessments:

  • AEAS (Australian Education Assessment Services)
  • Duolingo English Test (DET)
  • IELTS Academic

English language assessment results will be considered alongside school reports, interviews and other supporting documentation when determining a student’s suitability for enrolment.

AEAS Testing

AEAS is specifically designed for international students seeking entry into Australian schools and provides detailed information regarding a student’s English language proficiency and general academic ability.

AEAS testing is available worldwide, and students can register online directly or seek assistance from their education agent. A copy of the student’s AEAS Report must be included with the enrolment application.

For further information about AEAS testing, please visit www.aeas.com.au or email admin@aeas.com.au.

Duolingo English Test (DET)

The Duolingo English Test is a modern, online English proficiency assessment that can be completed from home in approximately one hour. The test assesses a student’s reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and provides results within approximately 48 hours. The Duolingo English Test is accepted by Nambour Christian College as an alternative to AEAS or IELTS.

Students choosing the Duolingo English Test should arrange for their results to be shared directly with Nambour Christian College and include a copy of their score report with their enrolment application.

For further information, practice materials and registration details, please visit https://englishtest.duolingo.com.

IELTS Academic

IELTS is one of the world’s most widely recognised English language proficiency tests and assesses a student’s listening, reading, writing and speaking abilities. Nambour Christian College accepts IELTS Academic results as evidence of English proficiency. A copy of the official IELTS Test Report Form must be included with the enrolment application. For information, test preparation resources and registration details, please visit https://ielts.org.

Please note that minimum English language requirements may vary depending on the student’s year level and academic background. Additional English language support may be recommended or required based on individual assessment outcomes and the student’s ability to access the curriculum successfully.
