In 1999, in recognition that adolescence has its own characteristics, elements and challenges, Nambour Christian College opened its Middle School, the first school to do so on the Sunshine Coast.
Twenty years plus on, we know how to nurture and support students through this exciting and challenging phase of life by focusing on security, support and success.
The Middle School for Years 7, 8 and 9 are part of an integrated learning program that begins at NCC in Prep and flows through to Year 12. However, because adolescence is a distinct developmental phase, it requires a unique response. Being the bridge between Junior and Senior schooling, our Middle School has specialist teachers who are passionate about working with this age group and the changes they go through.
We believe this makes us one of the best schools on the Sunshine Coast for students to undertake their secondary studies.

At NCC, as with all other years, all teaching includes a Christian world view creating important foundations for students as they transition into more independent and thoughtful beings. In Year 9, our students have the opportunity to visit our sister school in the Gulf of Carpentaria to forge stronger ties with an indigenous community and understand the value of service work.
Parents repeatedly tell us that these opportunities are why they value Nambour Christian College and regard it as one the best schools on the Sunshine Coast.
Special Middle School Building
A significant milestone for the NCC Middle School was the opening of the John Flynn Learning Centre in 2009. Comprising nine classrooms, each with their own extension areas and rainforest fringed balconies; this building has further enhanced the special sense of identity for our Middle School students, and their sense of belonging. In 2015 two flexible learning classrooms were added to the Middle School where teachers and students can use the learning space in a variety of ways.
Complementing the John Flynn* Learning Centre is a large undercover recreation area for the Middle School that is used extensively for assemblies, rehearsals, sport and social interaction. Middle School students also enjoy access to the onsite Shalom Health & Fitness Centre (Gym, indoor basketball and other courts) as well as the other purpose-built educational facilities on our campus.
*John Flynn was a Presbyterian Minister responsible for establishing the Royal Flying Doctor Service – an incredible and timeless role model for students.
