A safe and welcoming home while studying at NCC
Feeling comfortable and supported where you live is an important part of a positive international study experience.
International students may arrange accommodation with their own local family connections or, where eligible, stay with an NCC-approved host family for an additional fee.
NCC carefully manages the homestay placement process and, where appropriate, may work with the Australian Homestay Network (AHN) to assist with student accommodation.
Our aim is simple: to provide international students with a safe and welcoming home environment where they can feel supported, experience Australian family life and make the most of their time at NCC.

More than a place to stay
Living with a host family gives international students the opportunity to experience everyday life in Australia.
It can help students practise their English outside the classroom, experience Australian culture and build meaningful relationships with their host family.
Host families can also help students adjust to a new country and the practical differences of everyday life, from getting ready for school to becoming familiar with the local community.
As one of our international students advises: “Getting to know your host family is crucial.”
Note: Students under 12 years of age cannot be placed in homestay and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Carefully selected host families
NCC prioritises the safety and wellbeing of international students.
Host families undergo a screening and approval process that includes reference checks, home inspections and child protection requirements. NCC also maintains contact with students and host families throughout the homestay experience.
We take care when matching students with families, aiming to create a positive and supportive experience for everyone involved.

What’s included in homestay?
Students can expect:
- A safe, clean and welcoming family home
- Their own bedroom with a bed, wardrobe and study area
- Access to a bathroom, either private or shared
- Three meals each day, plus snacks
- Travel to and from NCC each school day
- WIFI
- Opportunities to experience local activities and sightseeing with their host family
Host families also help students with many practical aspects of settling into Australia, such as school uniforms and stationery, local transport, mobile phone arrangements, and becoming familiar with the local area.
Support throughout your stay
NCC’s support doesn’t end once a student has been placed with a family.
Our international team maintains regular contact and is available to help students and host families throughout the homestay experience.
International students also have access to the College’s broader wellbeing and pastoral care support, helping them adjust to their new school, home and community.
