Adolescence is a distinct and important stage of life — and it deserves a distinct approach to education.
At Nambour Christian College, we recognised this more than 25 years ago, becoming the first school on the Sunshine Coast to establish a dedicated Middle School for Years 7, 8 and 9. Our Middle School was created in recognition that young adolescents learn, grow and develop differently — socially, emotionally and academically.

A Middle School designed for this age
Middle School at NCC is the bridge between Junior and Senior schooling and:
- Is taught by specialist teachers passionate about working with this age group
- Offers 20 subjects, with learning redesigned to be integrated, practical and relevant
- Encourages independence while maintaining strong pastoral care and structure
- Supports students through a clear day structure, mentoring and house system
Strong pastoral care and belonging
Pastoral care sits at the heart of our Middle School. Every student is supported through multiple layers, including:
- Core teachers who closely monitor academic progress
- A vertical house structure with mentor teachers
- Dedicated wellbeing staff available when additional support is needed
This structure helps students build confidence, manage change and form strong relationships during these formative years.
