Berakah Farm
The Agricultural Science facility at Nambour Christian College, Berakah Farm, is a fully functioning agricultural farm.
The diversity of facilities and activities on the farm are ideal as an introduction to agriculture for our Middle School students and provide the essential practical element for our Senior School students studying Agricultural Science as an OP subject.
Berakah Farm is part of the Secondary School campus and within close proximity of the other College facilities. This provides efficient access by students for both attending classes and visiting the farm during breaks.
The Berakah Farm consists of:
- Student Classroom – for conducting Agricultural Science lessons on the farm
- Animal Shed – includes stables for the miniature horses and facilities for animal handling including milking dairy cows
- “Big” Shed – includes teaching space and areas for washing vegetables, working with plants, extracting honey, mixing fertilisers, etc. It also contains a cold room and an office which will develop into a retail outlet for organic vegetables, vegetable seedlings and nursery plants.
- Cattle Yards – for handling and treating both beef and dairy cattle
- Pastures – for the miniature horses and cattle
- Citrus Orchard
- Bee hives
- Vegetable Gardens – for Middle School students and for winter cropping by Senior School students
- Poultry shed – for both laying and show poultry
- Plant nursery and Hothouse – for plant propagation and vegetable seedlings
